What is Silicon Carbide Lining?

SiC wear-resistant liners are mainly made of silicon carbide ceramic materials and have the following characteristics:

① Ultra-high hardness.

② Excellent wear resistance, performing 10–20 times better than general steel and 5–10 times better than alumina ceramics.

③ High temperature stability, stable operation at 1350℃.

④ Extended service life, lasting up to 266 times longer than manganese steel and 171.5 times longer than high-chromium cast iron.

⑤ Excellent corrosion resistance, can resist chemical erosion.

Mainly used in chutes, hoppers, pumps, valves, and bearings of mining equipment.

Ceramic lined is a protective coating on the inner wall made of high-hardness ceramics (such as alumina ceramics, zirconia ceramics, silicon carbide ceramics, etc.), mainly used to improve wear and corrosion resistance, and always possesses the function of protecting equipment. It is extensively used in power, metallurgy, chemical industry, and other industries, which not only can extend the life of equipment but also reduce maintenance costs. It is an indispensable component in modern industry.

What is ceramic liner?

Ceramic liners are parts or layers of ceramic materials. They are mainly employed to enhance service life and wear resistance in various industrial, medical, and mechanical applications. Some widely applied ceramic materials include silicon nitride ceramics, alumina ceramics, zirconia ceramics, silicon carbide ceramics, boron nitride ceramics, boron nitride ceramics or aluminum nitride ceramics, etc. Their most salient characteristics include high temperature resistance and wear resistance.

What are a wear liners?

Liners are protective components that are installed in equipment or machinery to protect the surface of the equipment from wear, impact or corrosion damage. They are used most in crushers, conveyor chutes, cement plants and heavy equipment. They have characteristics like extension of equipment life, reduced maintenance cost and increased efficiency in work.

What are the benefits of silicon carbide lining relative to alumina lining?

In contrast to alumina linings, silicon carbide linings have increased durability in extreme industrial conditions. The hardness of silicon carbide is greater than that of alumina, meaning that it simply wears much more slowly, increasing the service life. It shows nearly zero corrosion in strong acids or alkalis in which alumina would otherwise decompose and corrode. Moreover, silicon carbide possesses excellent thermal conductivity. It makes itself can transfer heat away efficiently. Additionally, the high bending strength of 700 MPa enables silicon carbide linings can withstand greater mechanical stress and impact. Overall, silicon carbide liners will last longer and are a better choice for high temperature, high wear, and corrosive conditions.

How long do silicone carbide linings last in abrasive applications?

The lifespan of silicon carbide lining will depend on service conditions, but it lasts significantly longer than traditional materials. In many cases, SiC linings can last 5-10 times longer than steel and alumina linings. Under moderate to mild wear, a typical service life will exceed 3 years. In heavy abrasion zones, such as separators, SiC also lasts several times longer than metal liners. In dry grinding or areas with high-impact, silicone carbide can last in the range of 6-9 or better due to its incredible hardness and thermal stability. Several factors, such as particle hardness, flow velocity, and installation quality will impact the actual performance.

Can silicon carbide ceramic lining be customized for different equipment designs?
