Excellent Thermal Performance of RSiC Plate in Kilns

Excellent Thermal Performance of RSiC Plate in Kilns

RSiC plates can operate reliably up to 1,620℃. They deliver excellent thermal efficiency and stability inside continuous industrial kilns.

High-purity silicon carbide brings rapid thermal conductivity, ensuring uniform heat distribution while preventing thermal expansion. Moreover, its excellent thermal shock resistance stops micro-cracking during rapid cooling and heating cycles. This also means RSiC plates can be produced thinner to lower kiln thermal mass, substantially reducing fuel consumption.

Packaging for RSiC Plate Transit Safety

Newthink uses customized protective packaging to reduce transit damage for shipped RSiC plates. Our multi-layered packing will prevent impacts, scratches and chipping during international sea/air transport to the greatest extent.

Every plate is wrapped using shock-absorbent foam padding and sealed in moisture-proof plastic. Larger orders are secured in heavy-duty, custom-built plywood wooden crates, which are reinforced with high-density foam boards.

RSiC Plate Performance in Technical Ceramic Industry

RSiC Plate in Technical Ceramic Industry

A technical ceramics manufacturer faced serious production downtime before. It was caused by traditional kiln plates, which bent and cracked under intense heat.

They found us and upgraded to the high-performance RSiC plate. These new plates perfectly resolved the failures with excellent thermal shock resistance across repeated firing cycles. They can operate continuously without deformation.

With RSiC plates, the factory reduced replacements, significantly improving daily throughput and delivering long-term cost savings.

What is the max continuous working temperature for RSiC plates in oxidizing atmospheres?

1620℃. Unlike traditional fire-resistant materials, its pure recrystallized structure helps prevent sagging or melting. It ensures high reliability and long service life for your extreme-temperature operations.

How does RSiC perform under rapid thermal shock compared to alumina & mullite?

RSiC plate outperforms alumina and mullite. It has zero thermal cracking during extreme temperature fluctuations. And with superior thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion, it survives 1,200℃ water quenching repeatedly,  lowering your replacement costs and furnace downtime for fast-firing processes.

What is the open porosity rate of recrystallized silicon carbide?

15% to 18%. This interconnected pore network delivers a lightweight design that reduces kiln thermal mass. You can get a faster heating cycle and fuel savings without lowering high-temperature strength.

Do RSiC plates cause material contamination?

No. Each RSiC Plate boasts ultra-high purity (≥99.5% SiC) with 0 free silicon or additives. It will not volatilize impurities, ensuring high yield rates.

Why do RSiC plates maintain higher flexural strength at 1,200℃ than at room temperature?

At elevated temperatures, high-purity recrystallized bonds strengthen further. So an RSiC Plate achieves 120 MPa bending strength at 1,200℃, which increases by 20% over room temperature.

What causes micro-cracking or degradation in silicon carbide plates?

Micro-cracking in low-grade plates stems from low-melting glass phases, free silicon melting or thermal expansion stress.

High-quality RSiC plates do not use binders. This will prevent internal stress buildup and premature cracking for long-term operation.

What is the main difference between RSiC, RBSiC (SiSiC), and NSiC kiln plates?
  • An RSiC Plate consists of pure binderless SiC operating up to 1,650℃.
  • In contrast, RBSiC contains free silicon limited to 1380℃.
  • NSiC relies on nitride bonds.

RSiC provides superior thermal shock resistance and higher temperature limits without contamination risk.

Can ultra-thin RSiC plates carry heavy loads without sagging over prolonged heating?

Yes. Even thin 3mm plates maintain flat alignment under heavy loads. It maximizes internal kiln loading volume while reducing energy consumption.

How do RSiC plates help reduce kiln energy consumption?

The high thermal conductivity and structural strength of an RSiC Plate allow ultra-thin shelf designs. This greatly reduces dead weight and thermal mass in the furnace, enabling faster heating/cooling cycles and slashing energy costs.

What custom thickness, flatness, and machining tolerances are achievable for RSiC plates?

Newthink supports high-precision custom manufacturing tailored to your drawings. RSiC plate can be machined to extreme tolerances: flatness and parallelism down to 0.0005mm, straightness to 0.003mm, and surface roughness as fine as Ra 0.03μm.

How do you safely package and transport thin RSiC ceramic shelves?

Every plate is wrapped with anti-vibration foam boards and protective padding. Larger shipments utilize heavy-duty plywood wooden boxes reinforced with shock-absorbing foam.

What factors affect the service life of RSiC plates?

Atmosphere, peak temperatures, mechanical handling, and thermal cycling.

Choosing high-purity RSiC plates will reduce sagging and thermal fatigue. It can help you extend overall service life by 3-5 times compared to traditional ceramic kiln furniture.
